Better for your pocket book by Adrienne Snow

The price of cloth diapers varies greatly depending on what type you choose. A parent wanting or needing the most economical diapering system can diaper their child for less than $450 over the course of three years. To diaper that same child using disposables, a parent could easily spend over $2,300! Even when choosing modern styles of diapers such as fitted or All-In-One’s, a parent can still save a significant amount of money while making a much healthier and more environmentally friendly choice for their baby. How many diapers you need to adequately diaper your child depends on how often you plan to wash your diapers, but a good rule to follow is to have a minimum 24 diapers. The following outline gives examples of cloth diaper costs. (Please note this outline is an example. Costs can vary from what is outlined but gives a general feel of what it costs to use modern and traditional cloth diapers).

In some ways, cloth diapers can be compared to home ownership. When purchasing disposables, you might be paying a little less up front, but over time you are essentially throwing your money to the wind. In the end, you will have nothing to show for it. Like becoming a home owner, you pay a little more up front, but in the end you actually “own” something when it is all said and done. You may choose to use those diapers on a second or third child. You may choose to sell your diapers to another family needing to save money themselves, or you could choose to gift them to someone.

Simply put, cloth diapers are better for your pocket book.
